The 26-year-old socialite has vowed to change her party-girl image after serving a 23-day jail sentence in June for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.

“There are a lot of bad people in L.A. Before, my life was about having fun, going to parties — it was a fantasy,” she tells Newsweek magazine in its Oct. 22 issue, now on newsstands. “But when I had time to reflect, I felt empty inside. I want to leave a mark on the world.”

Hilton says she is now committed to using her celebrity status for the greater good. Next month, she plans to pack her bags for Rwanda to bring attention to the African country.

“I’m scared, yeah. I’ve heard it’s really dangerous,” she says. “I’ve never been on a trip like this before.”

Hilton, accompanied by a children’s charity called Playing for Good, will visit schools and health-care clinics as part of a five-day charity mission. The trip will be filmed — not surprising, given Hilton’s love of the camera.

“I love having everything documented,” says Hilton, who hopes to turn the footage into a film. “It shows people what everyday life is like for me, how hard I work. There are a lot of misconceptions about me.”

Hilton says her dating life isn’t as wild as the tabloids make it out to be.

“I’ve been linked to so many guys, but there’s nothing romantic going on at all,” she says. “I get along better with guys than girls. I trust them more. They don’t get all girly and mean. Girls have drama.”

Rapper T.I., whose real name is Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr., was arrested this afternoon in Atlanta. The ATF executed a search warrant at his home, and according to Atlanta’s FOX 5 News, T.I., remains in custody.

The agencies at the scene of the federal search warrant include: The ATF, U.S. Marshals: Fugitive Task Force, Fulton County SWAT, Fulton County PD, Dekalb County PD, and the ATF/Atlanta PD Violent Crime Impact Team.

The U.S. Attorney’s office will neither confirm nor deny anything about the investigation.

T.I. currently has a number of projects, including a movie with Denzel Washington set for November release, and he was slated to perform at tonight’s BET Hip-Hop Awards, scheduled to air October 17. The rapper has nine nominations, more than any other artist at the event.

TMZ contacted T.I.’s rep, who had no statement at the time.

But the wedding almost didn’t go off as planned. “Pam had begged Rick to keep the news secret until she had reached three months, but he broke his promise,” an insider told the magazine. In the end, she decided to go for it since she isn’t getting any younger, and the time to broaden the brood is limited.

A judged cleared the way Wednesday for a celebrity blogger to be questioned about his report claiming Lindsay Lohan’s friend planted cocaine found in the actress’s car after a crash.

Samantha Ronson has sued Perez Hilton for defamation after he repeated a report that first appeared on the Web site CelebrityBabylon.com.

“I am not now and have never been a drug user,” Ronson stated in a supplemental declaration filed with the court on Monday. “I have never handled or touched cocaine. I did not ever place any cocaine at any place at any time.”

HOLLYWOOD - Troubled star Lindsay Lohan has vowed to quit Hollywood in an attempt to stay clean from drugs, according to her father.

Michael Lohan reunited with his daughter earlier this month in Utah, where the Mean Girls star is seeking counseling at the Cirque Lodge treatment center.

He says, “When we finally came face to face we just clung on to each other and did not stop crying for at least half an hour.

“Lindsay said, ‘Daddy, I have done some terrible things and been addicted to drugs, but please believe me, I will never do drugs again. I hate Hollywood and I don’t want to work there. I need a break and I am moving away. I will stop hanging around with the people that are bad for me.’

“She said she does not want to live in Hollywood, as that is where the evil in her life happens.”

The pair hasn’t seen each other since Michael went to prison in New York after he was found guilty of driving while intoxicated and other charges two years ago.

DEVELOPING STORY: Actor Owen Wilson reportedly was hospitalized Sunday afternoon in Santa Monica, Calif., after being treated at his home by EMTs, according to the National Enquirer and Star magazine.

The tabloid publications claim Wilson was transported by ambulance to St. John’s Health Center after cutting his left wrist and taking an undetermined number of pills.

Wilson was discovered just before noon at his home by a family member who called 911 for help, the tabloids reported.

Paris Hilton was released from a Los Angeles County jail early Thursday because of an unspecified medical problem.

She’ll serve the remainder of her sentence for violating probation in home confinement, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

The 26-year-old hotel heiress was sent home shortly after 2 a.m. wearing an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet, sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

Hilton was sentenced to 45 days for violating her probation in a reckless driving case, but had been expected to serve 23 days in jail because of state rules allowing shorter sentences for good behaviour.

The socialite ended up spending three full days at the all-women’s facility in Lynwood, but because she checked in late Sunday and left early Thursday, authorities credited her with five days of time served.

She will be confined to her Hollywood Hills home for 40 days.

“I can’t specifically talk about the medical situation other than to say that yes it played a part in this,” Whitmore said.

Whitmore refused to answer questions from reporters when asked if the condition was physical or psychological.

He did say it was not a staph infection.

The jail provided her with a pamphlet on the skin infection when she checked in. Inmates released the day she entered the facility had said the jail was dirty and infections common.

She returned to her lavish 251-square-metre home in the Hollywood Hills, where authorities say she will be confined for 40 days.

The eight-bedroom, Spanish-style home, built in 1926, sits on a 593-square-metre lot above the Sunset Strip.

Presumably, Hilton will have the run of the grounds as long as she does not step outside the gates.

The conditions of Hilton’s home confinement were not immediately disclosed.
